John Read - Business Development Manager
Prior to joining Huthwaite International, John had a strong background in retail banking with Halifax where he held various sales, sales management, project management and learning and development roles.
Since joining Huthwaite in 2001, John has worked in depth with the Financial Services, IT and Manufacturing industries. His projects have varied from niche, one-off events to global implementations. As a result of his extensive international work, he has developed a strong awareness of different business cultures and an ability to work effectively with multi-national groups.
John has also been involved in designing and delivering sales conferences with clients, ranging from one-hour inputs to full day training events. He has a facilitative style, and believes that audience engagement and participation, along with enjoyment and fun is key to the learning experience. He is a commercially focused consultant who firmly believes that every external intervention should add value and deliver improved business results.
John is also experienced in working at all levels within an organisation from the CEO of a multi-national company to field sales reps.
His areas of expertise include consultative selling, opportunity management, negotiation and key account management. John is also passionate and highly skilled in working with sales managers to coach their sales teams effectively.
His current role as Business Development Manager is to open up new client relationships and to build relationships with his existing clients. John's approach is very client focussed and collaborative, and his main aim is to ensure the client gets the outcomes they want. He believes in getting under the skin of their business to ensure the best solution is implemented and has a long-term and positive impact on the client's business.
John is also an Associate member of Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators and a member of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management.
